Building bridges between regulators, operators & governments

The Voice of Africa’s Regulated Lotteries, Gaming & Responsible Play.

Africa’s lotteries and gaming industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors on the continent. Yet its full potential cannot be realised if regulators, operators and governments work in isolation or engage only when disputes arise.

ALGA was established because Africa requires a permanent continental institution dedicated to bringing every stakeholder to the same table. Our purpose is not to replace national regulators, interfere with government policy or represent the interests of one sector over another. Rather, our purpose is to strengthen the entire ecosystem by creating opportunities for dialogue, collaboration and shared progress.

"The future of Africa's lotteries and gaming industry will not be determined by the success of any single country or institution. It will be defined by our willingness to work together, share knowledge, harmonise best practice and pursue a common vision rooted in integrity, transparency and sustainable development."

— Musa Mngadi, Chief Executive Officer

The Authority That Serves Every Stakeholder

ALGA exists as the independent ombudsman for Africa's entire lotteries and gaming ecosystem — a neutral, authoritative institution that ensures fairness, accountability and transparency across borders, between regulators and operators, and for the communities gaming serves.

"Our diversity is one of Africa's greatest strengths. While our regulatory systems may differ, our shared ambition remains the same — to build a lotteries and gaming industry that is respected across the world for its integrity, professionalism and positive social impact."

"The Black Table"

Where Africa's gaming industry leaders converge to shape the future through dialogue, vision and decisive action.

Ms Jodi Scholtz
The relationship between regulators and operators should not be characterised by constant conflict, but by mutual respect, transparency and constructive engagement. While legal proceedings will always remain an important constitutional mechanism for resolving disputes where necessary, they should never become the primary means through which the industry communicates or develops policy.
Ms Jodi Scholtz
Commissioner — National Lotteries Commission
Mr Musa Mngadi
Our vision extends beyond the gaming sector itself. We see lotteries and gaming as strategic contributors to economic growth, youth employment, digital transformation, public revenue generation and community development. By fostering stronger cooperation between governments, regulators, operators and technology partners, ALGA seeks to position Africa as a global leader in responsible, ethical and sustainable gaming.
Mr Musa Mngadi
